One of our clients is the company Geoproing from Novi Sad, which primarily deals with geomechanical research.

At the request of the client, some modifications were made to the basic model of the VB1 – RIG model in order to adapt the drilling rig to the needs of geotechnical research. The basic change was made by adding a frequency regulator to the motor of the drilling head, which enabled the choice of rotation speed from 0-60 rpm, as well as a demountable tower, which reduced the length of the machine during transport by about 40%.

Over time, tools were developed for exploratory drilling using the dry method, by drilling, and later by continuous gouging with a diameter of 100 mm. In this way, the equipped machine can very easily drill and sample material in terrains built by dusty, clayey and sandy sediments.

Exploratory drilling is very quick and easy, it does not require more than 2-3 workers, and the average drilling time is approx. 2 hours for a 10 m well. Most of the field research work was carried out on the territory of Vojvodina, where the tool “Continuous Drill” with OK connection proved to be very effective and fast in sandy terrains saturated with water, where the well wall collapses easily after the tool is removed. The 10 kW unit accompanying the VB1 – RIG rig proved to be sufficient and reliable. The equipment is transported on a 750 kg trailer pulled by a Renault Trafic van, which contains all the accompanying equipment and tools.
